Tankers are continually moving within these areas, and might leave to refill but will return to these areas.

WATER DISRUPTION UPDATE – LOERIE WTW
06 February 2026
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform residents that Loerie Water Treatment Works (WTW) experienced a power outage overnight. Although power has been restored, one phase is still missing, and Electricity and Energy teams are currently investigating the matter.
This has resulted in a drop in reservoir levels, and residents may experience water supply disruptions in the following areas:

Recovery Measures:
Augmentation will be implemented to accelerate the recovery of reservoir levels once the electrical issue is fully resolved.
The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their patience and cooperation.

POWER OUTAGE – BETHELSDORP

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform residents that a power outage has occurred in Bethelsdorp following the tripping of an 11kV circuit breaker.
Affected Areas:
* Missionvale
* Salt Lake
Restoration Update:
Technical teams are investigating the fault. There is currently no estimated time of restoration. Updates will be communicated as soon as more information becomes available.
The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their patience and cooperation.
POWER OUTAGE – LAWSON SUBSTATION

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform residents that a power outage has occurred at the Lawson Substation (Perl Road 1 & 2) following the tripping of a 22kV circuit breaker.
Affected Areas:
* Sidwell
* Sydenham
* Neave Industrial
Restoration Update:
Technical teams are investigating the fault. There is currently no estimated time of restoration. Updates will be communicated as soon as more information becomes available.

Residents are advised that water trucks are stationed at the following points:

* ?Ngoyi Str, KwaZakhele
* ?Ayt Rd, KwaZakhele

UPDATE ON POWER OUTAGE AFFECTING THE METRO

Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to sincerely thank residents for their patience and understanding following the power outage on the Bethelsdorp–Greenbushes Line.
We are pleased to confirm that the following substations have now been successfully energised:
1. Rowallan Park Substation
2. Lorraine Substation
3. Arlington Substation
4. Summerstrand Substation
Currently, Kunene Park, Walmer, Walmer Location, Lovemore Park, Lovemore Hights and Schoenmakerskop currently have power supply.
The restoration of electricity across the Metro will continue in phases as the network is carefully and safely brought back online. While some areas may experience delays, every effort is being made to restore supply as quickly as possible.
We appreciate the cooperation and resilience shown by our communities during this time and assure residents that technical teams remain on the ground until full restoration is achieved.
