WATER

For one to apply for water meter and water streams you need to go to 7th Floor Mfanasekhaya Qobose Building (City Treasure) to get the application for water and sewer connection form.

ELECTRICITY

For one to apply for Electrical power points for a Restaurant you need to go to Munelek building to get the application for electricity installation form to re-install your power supply.

When your structure is done you need to go to Munelek Building to get the application for electricity installation form.

OTHER LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Zoning: A "Special Letter of Consent" from all tourism-related product owners who wish to operate their business in a residential area. Applications for Council’s Special consent are to be done prior to commencing business activities.  For further information, contact Director: Administration (Estates Division), Nelson Mandela Metro, Mr Danie Welgemoed, Tel: (041) 506 3212 or follow the process listed above.
  • Fire adherence certification: For assistance with regards to obtaining this approval contact the Fire Safety Enquiries department on 041 508 5541.
  • "Certificate of Acceptability for food on premises”: if you are a restaurant or accommodation facility which serves meals. For further assistance to obtain the certificate contact Environmental Health Services on:041 506 5400 / 5413 or download the certificate of acceptability for food on premises
  • Liqour Licence: Should you sell alcohol on your premises you will need to have a Liquor licence obtainable from the Eastern Cape Liquor Board.  For more information on what is required or to apply, visit their website www.eclb.co.za.
